Cahir Park AFC Notes

Another Good Win for our Juniors

Clonmel Credit Union Div 1

Galbally United (2) v Cahir Park (3)

Having been on top for most of the first half we took the lead on 25 mins when a Tony o donoghue cross found its way to the net Willie Dunne made it 2 on 40 mins finishing well to an empty net.

Cahir 2-0 up at haft time.

Ten minutes into second half Willie Dunne made it 3 we he finished from close range. The home team fought back and got 2 goals to leave us hanging on however good defending meant we held on for a vital 3 points.

Well done lads, great result away from home.

U14 Result Cashel Town 2-7 Cahir Park

A hard fought win today in very testing conditions.

We began with the wind and rain at our backs and despite some good work by our wingers of Jack and Zack, Cashel were resolute in defense. Chances were created for Bassem, Jack, Zack and Darragh but to no avail. It took a neat pass by Chris to set Zack on his way who made it to the opposition goal line and then to cut back for Darragh to finish it off with the easiest of tap ins. The rest of the half was competitive throughout and Cashel managed to even the score with a wind dipping shot which touched the crossbar and in, to beat Adam for the first time in months. Half time 1-1.

Cahir started the second half against the elements but got the better start with Zack finishing at close range to make it 2-1. We then hit a purple patch. Darragh scored 4 on the trot. The pleasing part being balls being played through from Chris, Francis, Bassem and Jack and finally Zack. Zack then won a penalty which Liam coolly slotted home to the goalkeepers bottom right corner. Cashel pulled one back with a fine looping shot over Adam's head. Our defence however did have to work at times and Liam, Tadhg, Keane, and Robert all proved a hard unit to break down.... and launched many attacks from their position. Gavin and Cody, our two subs came on for extended periods and also contributed positively to the eventual outcome.

Final score 2-7.

Despite the stop - start nature of the season so far, everyone of our players played and acted positively throughout.

Everyone, to a man, contributed to today's outcome, in what was very testing conditions.

We thank once again the support of the U13 team. This week it was Jack, Cody, Tadhg, Bassem and Gavin. The last two making positive debuts for the team.

Our Man of the Match is Darragh, not for the goals (5) but for his attitude in defending from the front.
