Cahir Park AFC Notes

Our Juniors make it 2 out of 2 after a long break due to weather playing havoc on fixtures, Sunday saw us travel to Wilderness in the league which is never easy.

In a very even 1st half the home team took the lead after 20 minutes the Park had their chances but just couldn't get that equaliser it was 1-0 to Wilderness at the break.

Park controlled the second half but had to wait till 15 mins from the end to find the equaliser when Barry mccmorack headed home both teams were now pushing for that win and it was Parks Mikey O Connor that got the winner in the last min with a low shot from edge of area.

Full Time

Wilderness 1 Cahir Park 2

Great result for management and players which pushes us up that table keep it going boys.

U16 Girls travelled to St Kevins Sunday, conditions were tough from the start. The girls played their hearts out from start to finish, keen to get going after their long break without games. Robin Carey quickly broke the deadlock and combined with Shannon Morrissey found the net a number of times before Ellie O Sullivan put her name on the score sheet. Margaret Reidy was very unlucky not to add to the tally. Final score 8-0 to Cahir. Congrats girls on a brilliant performance on the day where every player was outstanding.

U12 girls also travelled to St Kevins Sunday Morning in very sticky conditions, with a very strong wind hampering the game both teams played well and battled as best they could. It was scoreless at the half time break. St Kevins started on top in the first few minutes of the second half and quickly punished the Cahir girls to go one up. Cahir battled on but couldn't level it with the result on the final whistle 1-0. Well done to all the girls as the combination of the conditions and the long break without games took its toll. Hopefully the weather will be kinder to us going forward.

Munster Youth Cup 3rd Round

Tramore (Wat.) (3) v Cahir Park (0)

Our youths travelled to Waterford Saturday night to play Tramore what was always going to be a tough task wasn't made any easier when we only had a squad of 12 players. In saying that credit has to be given to the boys that did travel who put in a brilliant performance.

Park found themselves 1-0 down at half time so with nothing to lose had to go for it they created some good chances but just couldn't break down the Tramore defence. Tramore took advantage of Cahirs depleted squad and caught them on the break with 2 more goals, game finished 3-0 to Tramore.

Again credit to the boys that travelled who played their hearts out but just wasn't their day.

U12 Premier Result:

Cahir Park 2 - 0 Gortnahoe

Goals from Evin O Regan (7mins) & Conor Murphy (26mins) gave Cahir Park a well deserved win in this U12 league encounter. Well done to the whole squad who all played their part.

Our U16's were also away this weekend and had a tough task as the played Burncourt/Vee but credit to the boys they never gave up,Burncourt/Vee (5) Cahir Park (2) (attached picture)
