Cahir Tidy Towns

The Cahir Tidy Towns Group got back on track this week with the planting of trees in the St Declan's Grove. We will need to rebuild the walkway and build a kerb along the edge but this will take us some time longer. The weather upset plans for a May launch but could it be a little longer at this stage. We will be also planting more flowers In the Autumn to add to the 10,000 already in place. Those with trees purchased will have to bear with us for a while longer. We will be having a draw for trees near the time of the launch and we will be in contact with everyone at that stage.

We were delighted to be part of the winning combination with Cahir youth Project who scooped a prize recently in the RUTT competition. The youth club are based in the back of the Old Tech and were working with the Tidy Towns on building raised vegetable beds. Tidy Towns member Ted Lenihan will be the tutor for the rest of the year with the club and It is hoped that the children using the centre will learn how to prepare, plant, grow and harvest vegetables over the coming year. Leaders Sharon Magee and Michelle Doherty were on hand to collect the prize money from Chairman Andy Moloney, Seamus Conway and Ted Lenihan recently in the centre.

Please keep the 4th March free as our Annual Table Quiz and quizmaster The Gambler will hope to test your knowledge and raise much wanted funds for the Tidy Towns. Thanks to Larry Quinn who give his time each year as quizmaster to help improve the town.
