Barnora Pedistrian Crossing

Cllr Andy Moloney had a motion before this month's Municipal Meeting, that the Council provide a pedestrian crossing somewhere along the link road between Butler Court and Barnora Roundabout to cater for the large numbers of people crossing from the Barnora and Rosemount estates. As this is a busy corridor between the Clonmel and Cashel Roads there are a number of vehicles travelling above the speed limit and there is concern amongst residents about it.

Cllr Moloney was told that a raised crossing would cost around €20,000 and would have to be applied for under the 2017 Low Cost Accident Scheme. In the meantime he got an assurance that some signs for “Children Walking” would be erected at the entrances to the Estates in order to make motorists aware that a child might run out at any stage. He says that he was contacted by several residents in the areas who expressed their concerns but says that funding approval could take some time.
