Cahir Park AFC Notes

Cahir Park (2) Redmondstown (1)

Our Juniors hosted Redmondstown again this Sunday in the 1st round of the Tipperary Cup nothing could separate the sides at half time going in at the break 1-1. The Park started the brighter and were 2-1 very early in the second half. Both sides pressed hard with some good defending and goalkeeping to keep the ball from the back of the net.

Game finished 2-1 scores for Cahir Liam Casy after 9 mins and Pa Fitzgerald after 47 Minutes.

Well Done to Johnny and the boys.

Well done to our U14 girls who played St Kevins this Sunday morning in Duneske. The girls dominated from the start and showed great team work finding the net early to settle the nerves, followed by their second shortly after. Cahir continued well and the score was 5-0 at the half time break. They were well on top in the second half again and finished scores well. Plenty of chances were missed too. St Kevins pulled a goal back but today was the Cahir girls day. Congrats girls and well done.

CAHIR PARK U14 Championship RESULT

Cahir Park (5) Cashel Town (0).

A fantastic squad performance today with every player providing a positive contribution to the eventual outcome.

Cashel were organised and resolute in their defending for the first half with Cahir reduced to half chances. Keane, in his first start up front grew into the game and laid off some nice balls linking up the midfield with the attack. Zack was a constant threat on the wing and delivered some great crosses which Hichem, Nathan and Keane unlucky not to finish. Nathan worked tirelessly up and down the wing joining attack and helping out Robert with defensive duties when required. Our centre midfield partnership of U13 players Tadhg and Bassem were more than able to break up play and then to launch attacks from the resulting possesion. The build up play from the back was a pleasure to watch and but for Cashel defending so well, we could have nicked a goal or two. Robert was calmness personified and didn't put a foot wrong all day. Liam was VERY keen to get forward and support the attack (maybe an attacking midfielder in the making......). Defensively he performed admirably with many important tackles and also had the awareness to link up with Keane and Cody in defence ready to launch further attacks. The combination of the midfield and defence gave our keeper Adam a quiet afternoon save wise which allowed him to show his communication skills to great effect, keeping everyone in Cahir organised.... At the same time the midfield and defence kept the Cashel forwards at bay.

Two changes were made at the start of the second half with Jack going to left wing and Darragh coming on upfront. A joy to watch Jack and Zack keeping the width and allowing space for the midfielders and forwards to link up. The Jaffa cakes did their job and within 3 minutes of the start we finally unlocked their defence with a poachers goal by Hichem. In a purple patch for us we added another 4 in the next 18 minutes. Darragh scored twice in quick succession. This was followed by and unfortunate own goal with Cahir providing the pressure and the 5th was Seans with a poachers goal. Charlie was on for the last 15 minutes and made some important clearances.

Once again Gerry and I thank the U13 management team for providing much needed extra players when our own numbers were depleted.

All we have to do is keep up the standard,Well done lads

Clonmel Town 6 - 0 Cahir Park

Clonmel Town were much too strong for our lads today scoring 3 in each half. The Park players are a lot better than they showed in this game and hopefully will get back to winning ways in their next game.
