Cahir Tidy Towns Notes

The Cahir Tidy towns Group have been hampered with the recent poor weather in an effort to get the trees planted in the St Declan's Grove. Some of the trees may need a crane to put them at this stage as they are over 4m tall. We have 3 rows of creeping ivy along the banks to stay in keeping with the surrounds and the grove theme.

There are still some trees for sale and any business or family can have their name associated with this project for a lifetime for €300. This will include the name tag and plaque of all the sponsors at the Grove when the job is completed. It is envisaged that it will be opened in June when the bulbs are in full bloom. A lot of work has gone into this venture and we would love to see it supported as it will be a permanent fixture in the town for a lifetime to come.

The Tidy Towns Group are working with Cahir Youth Project on the new raised beds as part of the RUTT scheme and will be planting vegetables in the spring where the youths will harvest and cook on site.

On the social scene, Tidy Towns will be bringing Santa Claus to town again this year and he will be based in the Stable in the Market Yard from 2 to 5 on Saturday and Sunday 12th/13th and 19th/20th December and cost with pressie will be €5. Once again the main attraction this year will be Mrs Claus as she enjoyed her visit so much last year that she is coming along again with Santa and is still knitting the same piece that she had last year.

The main event is only 4 weeks away and that is the Cahir Christmas Party. Tidy Towns and Meet & Train have teamed up to hold a Christmas party in Cahir House on Friday 11th December cost €30. This includes a mulled wine reception, meal and music. If you have a group or family outing for the Christmas why not join us and book a table for a good night out.
