Cahir GAA Notes

Intermediate camogie

Congratulations to our ladies who beat the cork champions last Saturday to reach a Munster final for the first time in the history of Cahir Camogie Club, WELL DONE TO ALL PLAYERS AND MENTORS.

The Cahir Challenge

A big, big thank you to everybody who ran, walked, cycled or rode a horse, last Sunday for our fundraiser in aid of cancer care in the local area, it was a great success, to all who helped out on the day take a bow ye were fantastic thank you.

Happy Halloween

To all our members we say happy Halloween, to our younger members, be safe and mind those fireworks, and enjoy your “trick or treat” and to all of us keep an eye on your pets at this time of year as the noise from bangers etc. Can be frightening, and check in on our senior citizens just to see are they ok.

Camogie Notes

Cahir Camogie team powered their way to their first Munster Intermediate Final with a 3.15 to 1.6 win over Brian Dillons, the Cork Champions. The Cahir girls dominated in every sector of the field. The defence was awesome in attacking the ball and gave their opponents no chance to settle while midfield and forwards scored at every opportunity. Final is set for 14th November where Cahir will meet formidable opponents in Lismore of Waterford who contested the All-Ireland earlier this year and were All-Ireland Champions in 2014.

Hard luck to our minors who were beaten by Drom & Inch on Sunday last, it was tough on the girls with many of them having played the Intermediate game the previous day. We await the results of other games to see if we make the semi-finals.

Draw the Joker

A big thank you to all of you for supporting our draw every week, next week our jackpot is a massive € 10,400, it would take a long time to save up such a sum of money so don't forget to get your tickets for next Sunday, again thanks for the support. This week's results are as follows: Callum Lonergan won €100.00. Other winners were Roy & Mags Buchanan, Tony Hogan, Christy Daly and Sean O'Regan. The draw was witnessed by Roy from the Punters Rest. Next week's draw will be held in Cahir House Hotel and the Jackpot is €10,400.00.

Keep Friday night free

Table quiz for the Cahir Juvenile club will be held in the Shamrock Lounge at 8pm, always a great night.
