Cahir Community Garda and Services Launch

The Launch of the Cahir Community Services Card and Cahir Community Garda initiative will be launched on Thursday 22nd October in Cahir House Hotel at 8pm. The Card will go live on Cahir News on the night and is seen as the first such step in the county to address many social issues in the area.

The Cahir Gardaí are rolling out the community Garda programme where all gardaí at the Cahir base will be assigned an area of the town to go and meet their residents. All estates and streets will be covered as well as rural areas covered by the local station such as Loughloher, Poulmucka, Mortlestown, parts of New Inn, Outrath, Ballydrehid,Kilmoyler, Priests Road and the general catchment area. Maps, phone numbers and introductions will be carried out on the night once the project is launched.

This is the first step in trying to get the community reconnected with the local police force. Inspector Eddie Golden from the Cahir District has been very proactive and Cllr Andy Moloney has worked with him and both Túsla and STDC to bring the Community Services Card to fruition. This card will be a mindful of knowledge with all local service numbers from Caredoc & Suicide Awareness to Men's Sheds and Emergency Numbers. Basically, any number that you would want that involves voluntary and community in the area. An introduction on this service will be by Ruiari O Caisláin and then launched by Phil Shanahan of South Tipp Development Company. Moloney says that a very proactive group have worked hard to produce this card and your support on the 22nd would be most welcome. The card will go live on Cahir News after the launch.
