Cahir Park AFC

Our Juniors got a win Sunday which is great under new management although they made hard work of it.

We were 2 up after 5 mins Willie Dunne getting both goals controlled game for 1st 20 then Mullinahone got into it and scored on the stroke of half time ...... They were level on the hour mark .... The game went to extra time which we dominated but couldn't find the winner.... We won 5-3 on pens

Win is a win so well done to all involved onwards at upwards.

U14 Girls played their first game this Sunday morning in Duneske up against a strong Peake Villa side. This was a very tight game with chances for both sides. Game finished 0-0 and credit has to go to both goalkeepers who played outstanding games.

FAI Youth Cup Result

Cahir park 2 - Twomile Borris 2 after 90 mins

Cahir Lost 3-2 on penalties.

With an under strength team Cahir started off brightly passing was excellent , created a few chances. , finally scored mid way tru first half excellent moving of the ball starting in the back from the keeper fast passing ended on left wing where Dean O Brien beat the fullback pinpoint cross landed to Aivaras half volley 1 nil Cahir.

We created two more chances with Borris hitting the bar just before the break , so 1 nil halftime.

Cahir started sluggish in the second half when Borris equalized and few mins later loosing the ball in midfield and dubious offside Borris went 2-1 up , we held out from some pressure and equalised through Johnny Coveney , and had numerous chances to score as did Borris hitting bar twice , entertaining end to end game.

Best of luck to Borris in the rest of the competition.

U16 SFAI CUP RESULT

VILLA (3) V CAHIR PARK (2)

Cahir travelled to Villa in Waterford last night to play the 1st round of the U16 SFAI SKECHERS CUP. After a slow start we found ourselves 2-0 down after 30 minutes but in fairness to the boys they fought back and got one back through one of the younger players William Dwyer. The Dwyer brothers were on form and Edmond was through on goal when brought down by the keeper and was awarded a penalty which he scored himself.

With the game now level both teams were going for the win but it was Villa that got the vital goal just before the full time whistle game finishing 3-2.

What was a very good overall team performance from Cahir we just fell short and unfortunately this see's us exit the National Cup. I'm sure this won't dampen these boys spirits as they now concentrate on the Domestic League and Cup.

Cahir Park would like to wish Villa Waterford the best of luck in the remainder of the competition.

Other game we had was our U14 Boys who were awarded a walkover which sees then into the next round of the national cup.
