Cahir Abbey blessing and Historic talk.

The Cahir Tidy Towns Group along with TuS and co sponsored by Corbett Concrete have rebuilt the walls of the cemetery from the ground up. These works were carried out over a period of 2 1/2 years with the assistance of the TUS scheme which otherwise would not be possible. This is a Tipperary county council cemetery under the shadow of Cahir Abbey under the Control of the OPW. The walls will be blessed by the bishop of Waterford & Lismore the very Reverend Fr Alphonsis Cullinane at 2.45pm on Sunday 20th September. There will be a historic talk on the afternoon and guided tours of the Cahir Abbey. You are invited to attend this very special occasion as it also marks the visit of Fr Dempsey to Ireland to celebrate the 100 anniversary of the birth of Governor Dempsey from Blind Street who's relatives are buried in the Abbey also.

Fr Dempsey will celebrate 11.30 mass assisted by Bishop Cullinane on that morning also which will be a traditional mass as part of the Tradfest weekend.

The Cahir Tidy Towns Group would like you to join them on this very special occasion if your free to so. This event will be followed with a Cahir Historical Society Tree Planting in the Inch Field by Fr Dempsey.
