Independent Local Election Candidate for the Cahir/Clonmel Area, Martin Lonergan has praised South Tipperary County Council and Clonmel Borough Council outdoor staff for their efforts during the recent inclement weather conditions which has knocked trees, caused flooding along with power and phone outages.
?Too often we seem to neglect the fact that the outdoor Council staff work round the clock to ensure our own safety and indeed the safety of our homes and businesses during periods of very inclement and stormy weather. Though scarce on the ground, we have all seen in recent weeks Council employees erecting flood defences, sand bagging and clearing roads of fallen trees at all hours,? commented Mr Lonergan.
?I am calling on this Fine Gael/Labour Government, who were full of promises prior to the 2011 General Election, to immediately begin the process of increasing the levels of outdoor staffing in our Local Authorities so that they can provide the services that we, the public deserve,? concluded Mr Lonergan.
