The Chairman of the Cahir Tidy Towns, Mr Andy Moloney has received conformation that a new boat slip will be commissioned this year in Cahir.
As part of a series of workshops to create activities on the Suir the council have assessed the existing river access points between the Inch Field and Healy Park Carrick on suir along the 56km stretch.
This stretch of river will become part of a Suir Canoe Trail with Cahir been the starting point. This project will mean extra tourism to the area and the need for changing areas and facilitates to supports for the trail.
The funding has been received from the department of transport tourism sport and IPB insurances and are now progressing to design stage for the new slipway in the Inch Field. Mr Moloney, says that this is another huge benefit towards improving tourist numbers in cahir and his group will continue to lobby government agencies for the betterment of Cahir Town and make it a better place to live, work and play.
