Cahir Tidy Towns Group will meet as usual on Wednesday night at 7pm and beds on Barrack Street and in the square are ready for planting. The calendar Sales were a great success and the last of them are available in the shops at the moment. Lots of people have sent them overseas to family members for the Christmas so now is the time to pick up yours. The funds raised from the sale go directly back into the town.
Last Wednesday night saw Mimi and Mary on the bakery Road with an extensive litter picking campaign. Dermot, Ted and Gerry stuck to the outskirts of the town while Ina, Breda and Ann concentrated on the town center. The latter two were last seen heading to a local establishment for refreshments and it was noted. Anna and Seamus stuck to the shovels and lost some sweat in what was a cold night as they dug the beds. Sinead was a floating member on the night and slipped away early.
There is still a lot we can do when its dry and we would hope to be well organized early next spring. Our recent promotion of the WEEE Ireland collection of unwanted electrical equipment amounted to 7.8 tons. This was down from 8.2 tons last year but that was around the time of the saorview changeover.
All in all we will work away and continue to promote Cahir in 2014. Anyone who has areas of concern or suggestions around Town or need us to relay messages of concern to the council can do so with the Chairman Andy on 086-3609110.If we all work together we can improve the town no end.
