Fianna Fail candidate selection for the new Clonmel Electoral Area

Following on from the Fine Gael convention last week the Fianna Fail candidate selection convention for the new Clonmel Electoral Area which now included the Cahir Area will be held on 14th November. At present it is believed that Michael Anglim Jnr will try to hold his father?s seat and others throwing their hat in the ring are Tidy Towns Chairman Andy Moloney, Martin Lonergan Goatenbridge, PJ English Clogheen, Seanie Crotty Skeheenerinky and Jim Lynch from Cahir. There may be others by closing date on the 7th November.

Next year?s election will be a huge challenge to the Cahir Candidates as they must now compete in the Clonmel Area in a constituency with less seats. There is a fear that Cahir will get left behind with representation due to the numbers game and delegates to the convention will have to select carefully. It is likely that 2 out of the above names will be put forward to contest the local election and it?s an open field as to who will represent the Cahir/Clonmel Area.
