Margaret Galvin book launch is massive success for the Cahir Social & Historical Society

On Friday 29th of November the Cahir Social and Historical Society hosted the launch of Margaret Galvin's Latest collection of Poetry. The Book titled “The Finer Points” had a very successful launch event with Cahir house being a packed house on the night.

The event started at 8pm in the Cahir house hotel with the Cahir brass band playing great music through out. A great night was had as the community came out to support an award winning poet on her 5th poetry collection.

The Cahir-born, Wexford-based poet and former editor of “Ireland's Own” has written fifty-five poems that explore the experience of growing up in Cahir in the 1960s and 1970s. A regular guest of the Society over the last few years, Margaret grew up on the Clogheen Road and she re-visits this period of her life with relish, compassion and forensic curiosity. “The Finer Points” celebrates her native place with a reverent and keen awareness.

A look through the book's acknowledgements shows a great deal of thanks from the author towards the Cahir Social & Historical Society for their encouragement and support.
