Cahir GAA Club Notes

Not a lot happened on the pitch for us over the last week, possibly a calm before the storm kind of thing, because next week we are all go as the senior football championship starts next Sunday and that same evening the Junior A football championship also begins, so let' s put some dates in that dairy,

Senior football championship

Sunday April 14th, Cahir V Aherlow Gaels, venue Bansha, throw in 1-30pm.

Junior A Football championship

Sunday April 14th, Cahir V Shannon Rovers, venue Drombane, throw in 6pm

Best of luck to all the players on both panels and their management teams, and please if you can come along and support our teams on the day it would make such a difference to the players, also remember all fixtures are subject to change for various reasons, we will try our best to keep you informed of any changes.

Draw the Joker

Our Jackpot is getting higher by the week and before we had our draw this week in the Punters Rest it stood at €5,600, as always we thank you for your support as this is one of our main fund raisers for our club and as a club depend heavily on your support, we received the usual warm welcome when we entered the Punter's and thanks to the staff for having us, here are this week's winners: Ed Cuffe, Darta Vilde, Charlie Boland, Jimmy Nolan and Pat Cashman.

County Draw

It won't be long now before all our members receive their new county draw renewal forms for the coming year, at this stage we would like to ask for your kind support again for the coming year and become a member of the draw with us, if you are not sure about renewing this year please give any one of our members a shout if there is anything we can help or answer about the draw for the year ahead, as we have informed you over the last couple of weeks, as we did not do so well in the last draw we decided as a club to give something back to our loyal supporters and this was in the form of a draw for 20 x €50, the first twenty members of the draw out of the hat would get half their money back as a thank you for your support, here are the next four lucky members: Patrick Fitzgerald (Park Cottages), Colm Guthrie (Derrygrath), John & Helen Casey (Ballingeary), Michael & Mary Harty (Mullaney Gardens).

Congratulations to Roisin Howard (pictured below) who won a ladies football All Star award for her efforts for her College team during this year's O'Connor Cup campaign, well done Roisin, the first of many we are sure.

Staying with the Ladies we must also say congratulations to Fiona McEniry and Lisa Blair who were part of the Cashel Community School ladies football team who beat Bunclody in the Junior C All-Ireland football final at the weekend, well done ladies, more great talent coming out of Cahir, both players are pictured below, Fiona now has 3 All-Ireland medals for senior and junior camogie and junior football and 4 Munster medals for both codes, not bad for a school player, bright future ahead.
