Cahir Gaa Notes

U21s start off our year

On Sunday morning last our U21 footballers went to Ardfinnan to play Clonmel Commercials in a delayed first round of the U21 ‘A' football championship, our young men have stepped up a grade from B to A, against the wind Cahir found their new grade a little difficult to come to terms with in the first thirty and at the break the scores were 0-03 to 1-07 in favour of Commercials, in the second half Cahir came to terms with this game and with Ger Quinn as their captain for the year they came out all guns blazing, a goal and two points brought the lads right back into it, in a furious ten minute spell Commercials would also get on the score board with two quick goals to again put daylight between the teams, a great move involving five or six of our players ended with a fine goal for Stephen Grogan, Dylan Fitzgerald would raise the green flag for the third time for Cahir but at the end would not be enough, final score 3-07 to 3-11, after a slow start and their first outing to Commercials second, Cahir can take a lot from the game and with a couple of players to come back there is food for thought for manager John Cummins and selector John Murphy going forward, a long way to go yet , full team and scorers: Patrick O'Donovan, Colin McEniry, Christopher McDonagh, Eoghan Kelly, Tommy McDonagh (0-1), Patrick Meehan, Dylan Fitzgerald (1-1), Ger Quinn ((Captain), Kevin Grogan (0-1), Conor O'Brien (0-1), Stephen Grogan (2-0), Nicholas Reidy, Alan O'Connor, Conor Cashman (0-2), Sean Murphy (0-1). Subs Used: Francie Delaney, Eoin Wyse
