Cahir GAA Notes

Not much happening this time of year on the pitch, one match that involved a club man was the, Garda Shield Interdivisional tournament, held in Dr Morris Park at the weekend, congratulations to Christopher McDonagh (no 4 below) who was part of a South Tipperary side who won it out, well done to Christopher and all the team.

Draw the Joker

This week we were in the Abbey Tavern for the latest round of our weekly fund raiser, as always Bridie, John and Eddie looked after us very well, here are this week's winners: Jackie & Derek Davis, Ita & Jenny Kiely, Liam Hickey and Eddie Kendrick.

All weather pitch

A piece of history was made last Wednesday when our Chairman Pat O'Brien along with Eddie Lonergan and Denny Whelan, on behalf of our club and John Cummins of Premier Pitches, (pictured below) signed the paper work for the go ahead of an all-weather pitch in the Park, work can now start as soon as possible, and we are all looking forward to this top class addition to the Park, full details to follow soon.

(L to R) Eddie Lonergan, John Cummins, Pat O' Brien and Denny Whelan signing on the dotted line for the all-weather pitch in the Park.

Cahir reaches out celebration

After our great weekend last weekend, it was back to Cahir House Hotel last Saturday for Cahir Reaches out festival, it was a chance for the club to show off our new signs we got made for occasions like this, the event was well attended with RTE bringing two camera crews to the town in the form of the News and Ear to the Ground, one of the presenters of the latter show was Darragh McCullough (pictured below at our stand with Eddie Lonergan and John O'Donoghue ) and we must congratulate everyone involved in the project which was a great success, another caller to our stand was six month old Ryan Berry (pictured below no. 2) holding the South Minor A football trophy, let's hope he is hooked and becomes a Cahir star of the future.

Hard to believe it's Christmas time again (where did the last twelve months go!), to co-inside with the turning on of the Christmas lights in the town we put up our own seven foot tree in the park and we must say looks great (pictured below just before dark) we hope it brings a little joy to you all.
