Daughters of Dún Iascaigh book launch

Daughters of Dún Iascaigh book launch took place tonight in front of hundreds of people in Cahir House Hotel.

Cahir Comhaltas entertained the crowd.

The night was opened with a welcome from PJ O'Meara followed by an introduction from Josephine O' Neill Casey.

Alice Maher was next to speak. She told us of the story behind the cover art of the book and her contribution to the book.

Cahir To Sing then gave us a few high notes. This was followed up by a speech from Kevin Sullivan. He told us a brief history of his mother and grandmother who were in show business. A magnificent story which is touched on in the book.

Margaret Galvin recited some of her poetry to the delight of the onlookers.

Nicole Butler and Maria Walsh also performed on the night.

Josephine concluded the night and thanked everyone for coming and supporting the book launch.

A raffle and songs from Cahir To Sing capped off the night.

Profits from this book will be donated to St Vincent de Paul programmes for women and children. Daughters of Dún Iascaigh was created by various contributors; their work was edited and published by the Cahir Women's History Group.
