CAHIR GAA NOTES

Good start to the month of July

The Senior football South championship game between Cahir and Killenaule was played in Fethard last Wednesday the 1st with a comprehensive win for Cahir, our lads started well and looked sharp from the off, and continued that way till half time scoring 1-06 to 0-04 the only goal coming from Ian (Bunty) Flannery. The second 30 saw Cahir adding another nine points to finish out on a score of Cahir 1-15 Killenaule 0-06. The team and scorers were as follow: The team and scorers were as follows: Brian Enright, Eoin Donaghy, Aidan Casey, Ryan Murphy, Sean O’Connor (0-1), Ger Hally, Brendan Donaghy, Robbie Costigan, Liam Casey (0-2), Shane Murphy (0-2), Benny Hickey (0-4), Ian Flannery (1-1), Johnny McMahon (0-1), Dean Lonergan (0-3), Paddy O’Flaherty. Subs Used: James McGrath, Brian McKenna (0-1), Conor Casey, Mikey O’Connor, Aaron Murphy.

Motor Neuron Disease

On this Sunday night the draw the joker will be held to raise funds for the MOTOR NEURON DISEASE ASSOCIATION OF IRELAND. This Association has provided great assistance to Jim Swords who is suffering from Motor Neuron Disease. Jim is a long standing member of the Cahir G. A. A. club, managing and training teams as well as being an active Committee member. The Draw on Sunday is in Cahir House Hotel so come along and buy an extra ticket to help this very worthy cause.

Cahir sports and fun week

Happy 2nd birthday

Our draw the joker is two years on the go, we would like to thank everyone who has made this draw a great success so far especially the Cahir Publicans who helped us get the joker off the ground from the start so thanks to the Hill Bar, Morrisseys Bar, the Shamrock Lounge, the Galtee Inn, the Punters Rest, Cahir House Hotel and the Abby Tavern. The second term starts immediately more information next week, again thank you to all who bought tickets or helped in anyway. This week’s results are as follows: Mary Shinnick won €100.00 and the other prize winners were Pat Nugent, Peadar Kelly, David Enright, Tommy McDonagh Jr. and Marcus McGee.
