Statement on the passing of George Mason, former Chairman of South Tipperary Irish Farmers Association - Cllr. Martin Lonergan

I want to extend my sincere sympathies to the family of the late George Mason, the late vice-chairman of the Irish Farmers' Association's (IFA's) National Grain Committee who passed away at his home in Ardfinnan over the weekend. I want to take the opportunity to praise the contribution George has made to Irish Farmers Association here in the District, the County and indeed the Country. George was a tillage farmer and owned a farm in Ardfinnan which he was very proud of.

He served as chairman of South Tipperary IFA from 2010 to 2014 and worked tirelessly for the farmers in the region. He was very popular with farmers who respected his views and insights. To his family, mother Theresa, brother Shane and his wife Yvonne, sister Clara (Guinane) and her husband Gavin, sister Marguerite and her partner Paul, nieces and nephews, Henry, Sinéad, Philip, James. Aoife, Alexander, aunt, uncles, relatives and his large circle of friends I extend my sympathy. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
